Volcanoes took place from May 15 – June 15, 2019 in the Main Holland Project Gallery and Serva Pool Gallery located at 140 Vesta St., Reno, NV.
Volcanoes explores contemporary feminism and the power, force, and agency of individual and collective voices and bodies through image, storytelling, biography, and language. Today’s online feminist communities are able to share powerful and personal stories that are connected and amplified through social media and the use of a hashtag. Similarly, this exhibition brings together a varied grouping of figurative and text-themed objects, paintings, sculptures, photographs, and drawings ultimately connected by the repetition of alternating voices telling stories of lived experience – what is inscribed onto our bodies by others and ourselves.
